City Ombud advises of festive season office closures

10 December 2024

The City’s Ombud advises residents of office closures during the festive season. Residents are encouraged to submit complaints at a box located at the Cape Town Civic Centre.

‘The Cape Town Civic Centre Walk-in Office will be closed from 13:00 on 24 December 2024 to 31 December 2024 and will reopen on 2 January 2025. A complaint box with complaint forms will be placed at the entrance of the Civic Centre, Walk-in Enquiries Office for staff, councillors or members of the public to submit complaints during our annual office closure. In addition, the office will be closed this Friday, 13 December 2024, from 13:00.

‘All Ombud satellite offices will be open today, 10 December 2024, and will then be closed for the festive season. All Ombudsman satellite office operations will continue as normal from 14 January 2025 from 09:00 to 14:00.

‘The Ombudsman’s Office deals with last-resort municipal-related complaints about the City’s administration, as an office of last resort. This means that complainants would need to approach their first point of contact, such as the City’s Customer Relations Management Department or Subcouncil before approaching the Ombud’s Office. We thank staff, councillors and residents for their understanding and for continuing to submit their complaints during this time,’ said the City’s Ombud, Vusumzi Magwebu
